About Us

NEIR Program

NMCC’s Native Entrepreneur in Residence program was formalized in 2014, as a result of earlier work done by the NMCC Investment Fund. Today, NEIR is the premier non-profit program of New Mexico Community Capital.

Recognizing a need to develop and grow Native American entrepreneurial businesses, NEIR received long term grants and funding from ANA-SEEDS/ CDFI-NACA, and the SBA, to launch its program, with these goals:

  • Reduce “economic leakage” in Tribal communities
  • Retain and grow circulation of money earned via development of local entrepreneurship
  • Create Tribal economic diversification, growth, and sustainability
  • Strengthen skill sets
  • Move from a state of “possibility” to a state of “probability” in Tribal economic growth
  • Grow the reality and awareness of high performance of Native American entrepreneurs throughout the U.S.

New Mexico Community Capital

New Mexico Community Capital (NMCC) is a private, nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Native American CDFI that provides capital and knowledge for high-potential businesses in emerging or underserved markets. As a respected investor, advisor and facilitator, our goal is also to help advance the next generation of great Native American companies and entrepreneurs.

Since inception in 2004, NMCC has looked at the world through a different lens, part venture capital and part non-profit. NMCC has a double-bottom line venture capital fund with close to $15 million of committed capital under management. Managers of double bottom line funds strive to reach two goals: a good internal rate of return for their investors and enduring wealth creation and business development for the communities in which they invest.
